Irene Helen Mary (Bubinak) MacFarlane

   Irene Helen Mary MacFarlane (Née: Bubniak) passed away peacefully at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB on July 18, 2024 with family by her side. Irene was born in Coleman, AB on April 2, 1932. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Gino Quarin; as well as nine nieces, one nephew, numerous great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

   Irene grew up in Coleman and married Douglas MacFarlane on May 24, 1952. Doug’s studies and work took them to Edmonton and Calgary where they eventually settled. Irene’s love of her family and the Crowsnest Pass eventually brought them back and they resided at Peaks to Pines Lodge until their passing.  Irene’s last two years there enabled her to enjoy time with her sister, Rose Quarin and other family who reside in the Pass. Irene was able to renew some childhood friendships with residents of Peaks to Pines. 

   Irene’s nieces always thought of her as their exotic, stylish aunt when she came home for Christmas and family gatherings. She was so beautifully dressed, hair, makeup and accessories so perfect and she wore the loveliest perfumes. Irene was kind and generous and family meant the world to her.

   Irene was predeceased by her husband, Douglas MacFarlane; their infant daughter, Bonnie Jean; her parents, Louis and Margaret Bubniak; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Chris and Jim Wilson; her sisters and brothers-in-law Millie and Frank Yanota, Chris and Nini Peressini; and her brother and sister-in-law, Tom “Sparky” and Eleanor Bubniak.

   Irene’s family would like to thank Dr. Penner, the staff of the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Home Care, and the caring and supportive staff and residents at Peaks to Pines. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is very much appreciated.

   At Irene’s request there will be no funeral.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the charity of you choice.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
