Imre "Jim" Sandor Mate

With sadness we announce the passing of Imre “Jim” Mate on April 1, 2025.  He was 69 years of age.

Jim was born in Hungary on November 17, 1955.  When he was one year old his parents moved their family to Canada, settling in the Crowsnest Pass, AB in 1960.  Jim chose to remain there for his entire life, making many good friends and memories along the way.

Over the years, Jim amassed an eclectic collection that included items from many different categories, ages and cultures.  He was a man of conviction who never strayed from his beliefs or his faith.  Although Jim is gone from our lives, he will remain forever in our hearts.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his brother, Joe (Donna) Mate; his nephew, Joey (Britta) Mate; his nieces, Cori (Brendan) Plosz and family and Jodie (Cameron) Stauffer and family; his companion, Marina Hearn; as well as many friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, Margit and Jozef Mate.
