Gord Kennedy Obituary

Walter Gordon Kennedy, known to all simply as Gord, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2026, with his family by his side.

Gord was born and raised in Trail, British Columbia. In October 1971, he married the love of his life, Heather, and together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. They raised two sons, Chad and Brandon, who were a constant source of pride and joy.

Gord had a natural gift for connecting with people. He loved making others smile—whether through a kind compliment or one of his many jokes, some appropriate and some… not so much. He always carried a smile and was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

His passion was life itself. Gord found joy in woodworking, photography, baking bread, and “solving crimes” (or at least trying to). He loved spending time outdoors, especially with his boys. Above all, Gord was a storyteller, sharing tales that were sometimes true and sometimes just a little embellished—but always entertaining.

Gord proudly served with the RCMP from 1969 until 2003. In 1997, he was transferred to the Crowsnest Pass, a place that quickly became close to his heart. A transfer to central Alberta followed in 2000, but it wasn’t long before Gord and Heather realized “The Pass” was where they truly belonged. Gord retired in 2003 and they moved back to “The Pass” to make it their forever home.

Gord will be deeply missed and forever loved by his wife, Heather; his sons, Chad and Brandon; and his beloved grandchildren, Carlene, Sequoia and Lucus.

His warmth, humour, and love for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by Dying with Dignity Canada (www.dyingwithdignity.ca), or the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation “Palliative Care” (PO Box 455 Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
