   On November 8, 2023, Gloria Elaine Gaehring of Blairmore, AB was called into the arms of our Lord after a valiant battle with cancer.  She passed away in the comforts of her home surrounded by loving family and friends.  She was blessed with 78 years of a wonderful life.

   Gloria was born on June 7, 1945 in Long Eaton, Nottingham, England to proud parents, Edwin and Joyce Foster.  She was raised with an appreciation for family, community and peace.  After the death of her father, infant Gloria, her mother and many war-brides immigrated to Canada to escape the war and prosper in a new land.  She grew into a lovely and graceful young lady who displayed a tremendous talent at figure skating.  In later years, she married Robert Gaehring and was blessed with four beloved children who were followed by six wonderful grandchildren.  Gloria’s marriage ended with Robert but she found love once more with a handsome and kind man, Edward Betts, and they enjoyed many years caring for one another.  A wonderful and gentle woman, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Gloria will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew her.  May she be at peace.

   She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Edward Betts of Blairmore; her children, Wendy (Lars) Kyndesen, Rob (Pam) Gaehring, Jason Gaehring and Trent (Rebecca) Gaehring; her grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Malthe, Owen, Morgan and Devon; and her extended family and many friends.  She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Joyce Foster; her siblings, Kenneth, Keith and Barbara.

   We are all very grateful to everyone who provided love and support to Gloria and our family throughout this journey especially the Home Care and Palliative Care teams, Dr. Hattingh, Dr. Stover, Leah, Rev. Renso & Bonnie, and her special cousins, Darren, Carrie, Susan, Ray, Tamara and Kelsey.

   The Memorial Service honouring Gloria’s life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 3pm in Fantin’s Funeral Chapel (13461-20th Ave), Blairmore, AB.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.  Donations in memory may be directed to the Salvation Army, 1302-4th Ave, S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0R4.
