Giovanni "John" Olivieri

   With deep sadness we announce the passing of Giovanni “John” Olivieri on March 4, 2025 at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre, Blairmore, AB.  He was 94 years of age.

   John was born on June 9, 1930 in Cantalupo nel Sannio, Isernia, Italy to parents, Fiore and Antonietta Olivieri.  On April 29, 1953, he married the love of his life, Rosina.  Soon after, the happy couple came to Canada, settling in the Crowsnest Pass, AB in November 1953.  Here, they made a wonderful life for themselves and their family, as well as countless treasured memories.

   John was a hardworking, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He was always the first to arrive when there was a job to be done, and he didn’t leave until it was complete.   Throughout his life, John enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he continued to farm and ranch well into his retirement.  He was well-known for his impressive garden and for his incredible wine-making skills.  John’s quiet, steadfast presence brought support and comfort to everyone in his life, especially his cherished family.  His was a life well-lived and he will be remembered always with love and respect.

   Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his wife, Rosina; his sons, Fiore (Anna), Tony (Michelle) and Joey; his grandchildren, Sarina (Frank), Tiffany (Travis), Stacey (Dave), Mara, David (Allura), Aaron (Erin) and Kelvin (Shannon); his great-grandchildren, Brody, Mira, Avery, Elias, Lars, Odin and Declan; his brothers, Terige and Romeo, both of Toronto, ON; his sister, Rosina (Florindo) of Toronto, ON; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

   He was predeceased by his parents, Fiore and Antonietta; his brother, Oreste (Adoloratta); his sister, Pasqualina; and his sisters-in-law, Angelica and Louisa.

   A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, March 7, 2025 and a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 8, 2025, both at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (13126 – 21 Ave., Blairmore, AB) with Fr. Joseph Nagothu as Celebrant.  Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by Cystic Fibrosis Canada (www.cysticfibrosis.ca).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
