Erna Garces Reyes

   It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Erna Reyes who was called home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2022 in the comforts of her own home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was blessed with 52 years of a wonderful life.

   Erna, the youngest child of Epifanio and Emerita Reyes, was born on May 24, 1969 in Sogod, Southern Leyte, Philippines where she and her thirteen siblings were raised with love and kindness.  When she was about thirteen years old, she immigrated to Canada with her family in hopes of a prosperous and happy new life.  She blossomed into a lovely young lady who worked several jobs to provide for those around her.  She was last employed as a health records clerk at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for over twenty years.  Erna was the most cherished aunty in the world and she in turn loved and cared for her nephews and nieces like they were her own children.  She was a very happy person who  knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. Her greatest joys were visits with friends and family to share in good food, much laughter and endless karaoke songs. She knew all the best restaurants in Edmonton and was quite the food critic. Erna was kind, easy-going, generous and always willing to help those in need.  She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

   Erna is survived by her siblings; Madeline (Billy) Mañoso, Emerita (Nestor) Rollo, Lida Reyes, Elvie (Darren) Fearne, Mario (Marisyl) Reyes, Nenita Harmon, Edgar (Alice) Reyes, Elizabeth Cabral, Elsie (Jack) Fernandes, Elma (Erno) Reyes, Emily Reyes, Eva Gagui, Era (Richard) Langford; her nieces and nephews: Ian, Clarence, Nhesley (Joe Mari), Maykey, Erica, John, Jenin, Jillian, Janet (Mary), Brandon, Caitlin, Ryan, Joshua (Giane), Urbano, Alahjra, Samantha, Ernie, Christian, Rose, Oscar, Tristian, Reymah, Leo and Alona; as well as the many friends she made throughout her lifetime.  Erna was predeceased by her parents, Epifanio and Emerita Reyes.

   A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 1:00pm in the West View Village Community Hall, Edmonton, Alberta.    Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
