Colin “Foss” Edward McDonald was born on June 12th, 1944, the eldest son of Jim and Ellen McDonald. He passed away peacefully at his home in Calgary on March 26th, 2023.
Foss was an avid hunter of big game and often worked with the Forestry to locate trouble bears and cougars in the area. Throughout high school and later Foss worked for Dutil’s Hardware Store. He excelled in mechanics, and in 1964 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a mechanic. His first posting was in Cold Lake and later postings took him to Trenton, Calgary and Penhold where he retired from the services.
Foss is survived by his devoted son Colin and his significant other half, Mathieu Cote of Calgary; sisters Darlene Fulton (Joe) of Sherwood Park, Leslie Foster (Lorie Campbell) of Hillcrest, Allison Morotoli (Armando) of Coleman; special nephew and friend Donnie Patterson of Nanton; his loyal friend Darren Rogers of Nanton; his brother-in-law David Patterson of Nanton; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Jim in 1990; his mother Ellen in 2005; his brothers Malcolm in 1972, Jim (J.B.) in 2006 and John in 2007; his sisters Lana in 2004, Sharon in 2012, Maureen in 2021; his brother-in-law Rick in 2022; and his niece Lori in 2023.
The inurnment will be held on June 3, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Coleman Catholic Cemetery.
The family welcomes everyone to a Celebration of Life in Foss’s honour at the Coleman Legion following the inurnment.
