Christina (Olivieri) Sagrafena

   It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christina Sagrafena (Née: Olivieri) on October 5, 2025, at the age of 86. 

   Christina was born on January 20, 1939, to Fiore and Fiorina Olivieri in the town of Cantalupo nel Sannio in the Isernia Province of Italy.  She was known to be a lively and precocious child and looked back on her time in Italy with her siblings, Maria, Rosina and Vittorio, fondly.  On July 24, 1954, Christina married the love of her life, Albino Sagrafena, and in 1956 they departed Italy to begin a new life in town of Coleman, AB.  Christina and Albino's family grew larger as they welcomed their children.         

   Christina was known for sharp wit and sense of humour.  She loved her garden and her pets - especially her dog Rex and her cat Frisky. Christina could frequently be seen walking Rex around Coleman.   Christina loved to cook, and no one would leave her house without hearing “Mangia, Mangia!!” while being fed pasta and pizzelles.

   Most of all Christina loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Each grandchild has numerous stories of Grandma, and they knew they were well and truly loved.   Although Christina is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.

  Christina is survived by her children, Luigi (Monica), Antonietta (Mike) and John (Maricel); her grandchildren, Michael (Michelle), Kelly (Chantelle), Myriah (John), Derrick (Kayla), Tanner (Kassidy), Neil (Holly), Shea (Brooke), Tyler (Shaylee), and Nika (Justin): her great-grandchildren, Luke, Tyson, Addyson, Brea, Triston, Weston, Nixon, Mac, and Josie; and her sister, Rosina.  She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends from the Crowsnest Pass, Toronto, Montreal and England.

  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albino; her parents, Fiore and Fiorina Olivieri; her sister, Maria (Gennaro “Gino”); and her brother, Vittorio (Lina); and her brother-in-law, Giovanni “John”.

   A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (13126 – 21 Ave., Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0) on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00am with Fr. Joseph Nagothu as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Holy Trinity Church Roman Catholic Parish Building Fund (PO Box 1410 Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
