Allan Wakaluk Obituary

With sadness, we announce that Allan James Wakaluk passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the Crowsnest Pass Health Centre.  He was 86 years of age.

Allan was born on July 23, 1939, in Burmis, AB, to Alexander and Annie Wakaluk. He spent his life rooted in the Crowsnest Pass and Burmis area, where he built a reputation as a hardworking and dedicated man who deeply valued family, community, and the outdoors. Allan fell in love with Susan Pyke, and they married on September 21, 1963. Together they built a life filled with family, laughter, and many wonderful memories.

Allan was a proud member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Blairmore Lions Club, and the Bellevue Legion. He was known for his strong work ethic and his love of farming. When he wasn’t working, Allan could often be found hunting, fishing, gardening, or being outdoors with his best pal Rocky. A natural storyteller, Allan loved sharing tales —whether about hunting trips, work experiences, or life in the mountains. He also had a passion for cooking and was often found preparing meals at family and community events, bringing people together with good food and good company. Above all, Allan will be remembered as a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He treasured his family and friendships, and his legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Special thanks to Dr. Bell for providing Allan with exceptional care, often going above and beyond, since 2017. Also, many thanks to the nursing staff at the Crowsnest Pass Health Centre for the care Allan received there.  It was very comforting to know that he was looked after in his time of need.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his son, Darcy (Dawn); his daughters, Robin (Scott), Shelly (Ryan), Kathy and Tracy (Gary); his grandchildren, Dakoda (Dan), Derrek (Alexandra), Meghan (Brad), Kelsie (Duncan), Alex (Olivia), Logan, Morgan, Lauren, Reid, Brock, Robert and Tori; his great-grandchildren, Drake, Kiah, Mikka, Emerson, Madilyn, Adelynn, Mila, Xander, Xoey, Weston, Beckett, Kennedy, Tegan and Ava; his sisters, Barbara, Faith, Shirley and Hope; his brother-in-law, Jonny Vigna; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Allan was predeceased by his wife, Susan; his parents, Alexander and Annie; his brothers, Edward, Bill and Stan; and his sisters, Mary, Doris and Audrey.

With respect for Allan’s wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation (PO Box 455 Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
