It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan Rypien Sr. of Coleman, AB on December 10, 2021 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB. He was 77 years of age.
Allan was born in Coleman, AB on September 15, 1944 to loving parents Bruno and Agnes Rypien. He was raised to have a great appreciation for family and friends, and, as a devout Catholic, to have unwavering faith in the Lord. Throughout his entire life, family remained his top priority, and he attended daily mass on TV until he passed away.
On May 4, 1963, Allan married the love of his life, Patricia Skinner. Together they raised three wonderful sons in a warm and nurturing home and created countless special memories. Over the years, some of his favorite moments were when his grandkids and great-grandkids visited, and Saturday morning coffee meetings with Pat and his sons. Allan was proud to be the third-generation patriarch of six generations of Rypiens living in the Crowsnest Pass area.
Allan loved camping and fishing, and going hunting with his boys. He also liked walking, playing tippet, puttering in his yard, and when in Creston, BC he could be found on his riding lawn mower with a couple of beers. He looked forward to having a smoke and a beer at the casino where he often won. Allan was an avid Calgary Stampeders and Blue Jays fan, and was a good ballplayer himself. He especially liked playing on a team with his boys.
Allan will live on in the hearts and memories of those he leaves behind and he will be forever remembered with love and respect.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his wife, Patricia; his sons, Wes (Nola), Darren (Lori) and Allan Jr. (Kelly); his grandchildren, Wes Jr. (Lindsay), Courtney (Steve), Liz (Tyson), Teale (Seamus), Taylor (Will) and Matt (Meghan); his great-grandchildren, Luke, Joe, Emily, Alaina, Kiana and Charley; his aunt, Anne Kiely; as well as his extended family and many friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Bruno; his mother, Agnes; his parents-in-law, Douglas and Madeline Skinner; his grandson, Rick Rypien; his brother, Robert; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Skinner and Terry Rypien; his niece, Colleen Rypien; his nephew, Mark Arcand; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Prayer Service was held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (13126 – 21 Ave., Blairmore, AB), and the Funeral Mass was held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church with Fr.
