Kirby was born on October 10, 1987 in St. Albert, Alberta to proud parents, Wendy and Garnet Howlett. He grew to be a fine young man with a generous nature and good work ethic. Kirby graduated high school and gained employment in the petroleum industry with Devon, later with Pivotal Safety and finally at AMLOG as a warehouse operator. He loved animals, cheering on the Oilers, golfing, roughhousing with family and friends, working out at the gym, preparing the thanksgiving turkey and spiced rum pumpkin pie, most outdoor activities in the backwoods, the occasional prank, his 2014 Mustang (with the lime green racing stripes) and most especially his family. He cherished his family and felt honoured to be named Godfather to his recently born niece, Nahlaaya. Kirby will be fondly remembered for his charismatic nature and ease with making friends but most especially for his positive attitude: he chose to life a life of happiness and contentment. His death grieves us sorely but his memory will forever lift our hearts.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Garnet & Allison Howlett; his siblings, Kristy Howlett, Emily Hansen and Lorin Hansen; his precious niece and goddaughter, Nahlaaya Wendy Ellen Howlett; his canine companion, Jack; his extended family; as well as his co-workers and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Wendy “Punky” Howlett and his grandparents, Eleanor & Earl Howlett, Jean & Warren Steuart and Cara Smith.
The Memorial Service celebrating Kirby’s life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Crowsnest Community Christian Centre (8534-24 Ave) in Coleman with Pastor Al Robinson officiating.
