David "Dave" Miller Obituary

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend Dave passed away at the Crowsnest Health Centre on March 23 at the distinguished age of 80 after a battle with  Parkinson ’s disease.  He was born in Port Hope Ontario to George and Doreen Miller.  He eventually became one of thirteen children.

Dave loved camping, hunting and going for long drives exploring the backroads of the Crowsnest Pass and surrounding areas.  Dave was a plumber/gasfitter and volunteer fire fighter in Port Hope before moving to the Pass around 1980.  He was a skilled grader operator and worked for Craig’s Construction, Dwyer Construction and finally at Atlas lumber until he retired.  Dave enjoyed children immensely; he was our baby whisperer. He also was Santa for the Town of Bellevue for several years.  He was a quiet, gentle soul who was always there to lend a helping hand.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are: his son David (Lisa) Miller; stepchildren Mike (Kerri) Miller, Karen (Barry) Henderson, Eric (Linda) Scott, Gordon Scott, Karen Robinson, Melodie Hildebrand, Leonard Scott, Cameron Scott, and Marty (Nick) Jensen. Dave was blessed with twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Also his siblings Ted Miller, Bob (Linda) Miller, Shirley Pillsworth, Gayle (Ted) Buck, Jane Smith, Jim Anderson, Susan (Ron) Cramm, and Nancy (Milt) Elliott. He was predeceased by his parents George and Doreen; his wife Beverley; his brothers Ron and John; sisters Marty and Lynn; and a stepdaughter Brenda.

His family would like to thank the staff at the Crowsnest Health Centre for their care over the past three years.  At his request, there will be no funeral service.  A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
