April 15, 1941 ~ July 3, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

WILLIAM “Billy” ASCHACHER

(1941 – 2016)

It is with great heartache that we announce the passing of William Joseph Aschacher of the Crowsnest Pass, AB who was called to be with the Lord on July 3, 2016 while receiving care at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre and attended on by his beloved family.

Billy was born on April 15, 1941 in Blairmore, Alberta to Henry and Elizabeth Aschacher.  He was raised with a strong appreciation for the outdoors and rugged terrain of this mountainous community.  He was determined and hardworking, gentle and kind, and knew the importance of family and friends.

On October 27, 1962, Billy married Sylvana Feregotto; their love and devotion to one another continued every day of their lives.  They were blessed with two lovely daughters and later their beautiful granddaughters whom they cherished.

Billy was a wonderful provider and took pride in a hard day’s work.  In his youth, he gained employment at the local bottling works, Phillips Cable and settled on coalmining as a means to provide for his family.  He had many hobbies and passions:  Billy loved fishing, hunting and camping, mushroom and berry picking, searching for lost treasures with his trusty metal detector and especially the hours spent with friends and family.

Billy’s life changed drastically at age 53 when he suffered a severe stroke.  His active lifestyle ceased and he became dependent on his beloved wife, Sylvana, and family.  He remained positive and an inspiration to us all and throughout his trials, he confirmed what is truly important in this life: time is precious and fleeting – do not put off your dreams and aspirations or all you will have is regret, and even more importantly, – spend time with family & friends before it’s too late.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvana Aschacher of Coleman, AB; his daughters, Lori (Darren) Rypien of Blairmore, AB and Andrea (Michael Hermans) Aschacher of Roberts Creek, BC; his grandchildren, Courtney Rypien of Lethbridge, AB, Elizabeth Rypien of Lethbridge, AB and Teale Rypien of the Crowsnest Pass, AB; his brothers, Terry (Vickey) Aschacher of Whitehorse, YT and Brent (Wanda) Aschacher of Whitehorse, YT; his sister-in-law, Yvonne Aschacher of Coleman, AB; and numerous nieces and nephew, extended family and cherished friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry & Betty Aschacher; his brother, Jim Aschacher; and canine companion, Ginger.

With respect for Billy’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.

Donations in memory of the late William Aschacher may be directed to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Fdn, (www.heartandstroke.ab.ca) or the ASPCA Humane Society, Box 725, Blairmore, AB T0K0E0.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.com.
