Wilbert Isadore Raymond

   It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilbert Raymond of Blairmore, AB on April 3, 2016 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre.  He was 94 years of age.

   Wilbert was born in Coleman, AB on February 17, 1922 to proud parents, Ethel and Isadore Raymond.  He grew into a kind, handsome young man who captured the heart of a lovely young woman, Anne Margetak.  They fell in love, and on August 15, 1942 they were joined in holy matrimony.  They went on to be blessed with three wonderful children and raised them with love and devotion.

   Wilbert had many interests and hobbies such as curling and playing cards.  He was also an avid golf enthusiast who helped build the Crowsnest Pass Golf and Country Club & held lifetime membership there.  As a lifelong resident of the Crowsnest Pass, Wilbert was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed all the activities the area had to offer including fishing, picking wild mushrooms and huckleberries and hunting.  At the age of 90, he hunted his last rabbit.  Wilbert possessed a sharp mind his entire life and was very independent, staying in the home he had built until two months before he passed away.  He strongly believed that the key to a long life was to eat well and to have something to do everyday, and he was a fine example of the truth in those words.  Above all else, Wilbert cherished his family and time spent with them.  All who were fortunate enough to have known him will miss his strength and benevolent, caring spirit.  He will always be remembered.

   Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his sons, Brian Raymond of Calgary, AB and Gary (Betty) Raymond of Summerland, BC; his grandchildren, Eric (Shannon), Janelle, Dori (Michel), Michael (Gladys) and Kevin (Marilyn); his great grandchildren, Nicolas, Daniel, Nicolas, Samuel, Liz, Chris and Jack; his sister-in-law, Irene Orkusz of Edmonton, AB; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as the countless friends he made throughout his life.

   He was predeceased by his wife, Anne; his parents, Ethel and Isadore; his daughter, Annette; and his sister, Esther Ash.

   A Celebration of Life will be held at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel (13461, 20 Ave., Blairmore, AB) on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am.  Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass Community Support Society (P.
