Welcome to the memorial page for

Valerie Arlene (Orvis) MacLeod

December 14, 1952 ~ May 31, 2017 (age 64) 64 Years Old

It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Valerie MacLeod of Bellevue, AB on May 31, 2017.  She blessed this world with 64 years of unconditional love and kindness.

On January 11, 1970 Valerie married her soul mate, Thomas MacLeod, and they made the Crowsnest Pass there home in 1981.  Together, they raised their family in a warm, nurturing home, and shared thirty-six devoted years of marriage.

Valerie was well known for helping anyone in need, and for giving freely to those less fortunate than herself.  Whether it be participating in the church prayer line, or giving the coat off her back, she never hesitated to extend a helping hand.  Family meant the world to Valerie, and she welcomed new additions with open arms.  This included many children who she took under her wing – she was “Mom” and “Nana” to many.  Throughout her entire life, Valerie was a devout Christian, and her faith in God and Jesus never wavered.  She truly believed that love could conquer all, and that everyone deserved to be loved.  Her selfless, compassionate spirit will be missed terribly and forever remembered.

Left to celebrate her life and mourn her passing are her beloved children, Sean (Dalia) MacLeod of Vancouver, BC, Tom (Darlene) MacLeod of Calgary and Vanessa (Scott) Perison of Shawnigan Lake, BC; her cherished grandchildren, Tharin, Zennon, Logan, Dalton, Dawson, Maddison, Tatiana, Michaela, Devon and Taya; her treasured great grandchild, Stella; her sisters, Margaret and Jacquie; her extended family, especially Doreen Orvis, Harry Nilsson, Richard Orvis, Cathy and Darlene; her many adopted “grandchildren”; as well as the countless number of people whose hearts she touched.

She was predeceased by here husband, Thomas MacLeod; her parents, Gordon and Isobel Orvis; her brothers, Alec Orvis and Rick Courchene; and her sister, Lucille Nelson.

The Memorial Service honoring Valerie’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Crowsnest Community Christian Center (8534, 24 Ave., Coleman, AB) with Pastor Al Robinson officiating.  Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Lake Bible Camp (P. O. Box 250, Coleman, AB T0K 0M0).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
