Sandra Angie (Bachura) Petrich

   It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Petrich on May 29, 2017 at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta at 70 years of age.  

   Sandra was born in Hillcrest, Alberta on November 15, 1946 to parents Benjamin and Alda Bachura.  She was later joined by brothers, Gene and Barry. After Sandra completed High School, she attended school in Calgary where she obtained her Nurse’s Aid Certificate.   Sandra worked in Camrose, Alberta where she met her husband, Valentin Petrich.   Sandra and Valentin relocated to Hillcrest and were married on July 13, 1968.   They had one daughter, Lydia, who they adored.  

   Sandra was a kind soul with a heart of gold who could also be described as eccentric.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, Marissa and Hillary, and had a fondness for animals as well.  She was also not afraid to stand up for what she believed in and “stir the pot” so to speak, and was known to write the occasional letter to the editor.  Sandra took great pride in learning and researching about the environment.  She also loved reading, writing and politics.  Sandra’s passionate, loving spirit will be greatly missed.

   Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life is her daughter, Lydia Petrich-Syryca (Larry Syryca); her granddaughters, Marissa and Hillary; her brothers, Gene Bachura (Lynn) of Calgary and Barry Bachura (Debbie) of the M.D. of Pincher Creek; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Irmgard and Norman Hiller of Millet, Alberta; and several nieces and nephews.

   She was predeceased by her husband, Valentin Petrich; her parents, Alda and Ben Bachura; and her grandparents, Caterina and Carlos Bosetti and Antonie and Joseph Bachura.

   A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Passburg Cemetery with Rev. Dr. A. Christopher Smith officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the CNP Health Foundation “Continuing Care Program” (P. O. Box 455, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0), or the Crowsnest Pass S.P.C.A. (P. O. Box 725, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
