Noreen Elizabeth (Cole) Olinek

   It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the children of Noreen Olinek announce her passing on March 12, 2017 at the age of 85 years.

   Noreen was born on July 25, 1931 to Fanny and Edgar Cole.  She grew up in Bellevue, AB where she attended school before finishing her education in British Columbia.  Upon returning to Bellevue, she captured the attention and heart of a handsome gentleman, Lou Olinek, and they married on June 24, 1950.  A year later, they were blessed with their first son, Louis Gene.  Their second son, Larry Cole, arrived after their daughter, Debra Rose, and their happy family was complete when their fourth child, Cindy Lee was born.

   Noreen always placed her family’s needs before her own, and she loved to make holidays and birthdays extra special.  She also enjoyed creating and could always be found behind a sewing machine, knitting or cross-stitching – there wasn’t a craft that Mom didn’t do at one time or another.  Later, her children grew up and blessed her with seven grandchildren who she adored and loved to take care of.  She was further blessed when her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, or “babies” as she affectionately called them, arrived and brought even more joy and laughter into her life.  Her loving, generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

   Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her devoted children, Gene (Pat) Olinek of Hillcrest, Larry Olinek of Bellevue, Debi (Larry) Ruzek of Hillcrest and Cindy (Ron) Emary of Calgary; her cherished grandchildren, Bill (Natalie) Olinek, Kris (Grace) Ruzek, Wayde Putman, Brandi (Craig) Yakubowski, Lishelle (Terry) Trembath and Dawn (Steve) Crane; her treasured great grandchildren, Karson, Landen, Paige, Noah, Ethan, Alisha, Lou and Fisher; her special great-great grandchild, James; as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.

   She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lou Olinek in 2010; her father, Edgar Cole in 1956; her mother, Fanny Cole in 1974; her brother, Ron Cole in 1974; and her infant grandson, Bradley in 1983.

   With respect for Noreen’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.  A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the York Creek Lodge Residents Association (P.
