Miriam (O' Hearn) Nicholls

   It is with tremendous sadness and grief, that we announce the passing of Kathleen Miriam Nicholls of Blairmore, Alberta.  She graced this world with 79 years of life and on December 26, 2016, Miriam passed away peacefully surrounded by love and with her family by her side.
   Born on March 24, 1937 in Toronto, Ontario to Wilfrid and Irene O’Hearn, Miriam was raised with a great respect of the Golden Rule, and lived her life treating all she knew with compassion and kindness.
   Miriam attended elementary to grade 8 at St. Clement’s school for girls. The family moved to Hollywood, California where she attended LaConte Junior Highschool, and then returned to Toronto to attend Oakwood Collegiate High School from grade 9 to 13, followed by teachers college.
   Miriam joined the Baha’i faith in 1961. She fell in love with the area while attending Baha’i summer school at Banff Springs. This spurred her decision to move to Calgary to pioneer for the Baha’i faith. Miriam was very devout and had a deep passion for her faith.
   She had a love for the written word, and worked at The Morning Albertan newspaper for a time.
   Her charming and loving nature drew the attention of Murray Gordon Nicholls, and on December 29th, 1962 they were wed in holy matrimony. They lived in Calgary, AB, where they raised two beautiful children, Dawn Marie, and David Andrew.
   Miriam loved to sew, knit, paint, and had a great love and appreciation of art and music.
   She is survived by her beloved children, Dawn (Walter) Gail of Blairmore and David Nicholls of Calgary; her grandchildren, Wade (Natsumi) Gail, Amanda Gail, Wyatt Gail, Samantha Nicholls and Daniel Nicholls; her great grandchild, Wilson Gail; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving extended family.
   She is predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Irene O’Hearn; her husband, Murray Nicholls; and her daughter-in-law, Cheralynn Nicholls.
   A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Fantin’s Funeral Chapel, Blairmore, AB with Mohsen Seyed Mahmoud of the Lethbridge Baha’i’s facilitating.  Interment to follow at the New Blairmore Union Cemetery.  Donations in memory of Miriam will be gratefully accepted by UNICEF (www.unicef.org), or the Crowsnest Pass Food Bank (P.
