Welcome to the memorial page for

Landrea John Slywka

December 30, 1963 ~ March 16, 2017 (age 53) 53 Years Old

It is with profound sadness and grief that we announce the sudden passing of Landrea John Slywka, formerly of the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, who died due to health complications on March 16, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 53 years.

He was born on December 30, 1963 in Calgary, AB to Paul and Elsie Slywka.  His fondness for the outdoors, camping and especially fishing began at an early age and he continued to enjoy its beauty and solitude throughout his entire life.  He married Kimberly Selensky and was blessed with two loving children.  He cherished his kids and was passionate about teaching and caring for them.  A hard-working man, Landrea gained employment in the oil and gas industry as a well tester and operated his own business in construction for many years.  He was a good provider for his family and until a recent injury compromised his abilities, he was proud of his skill and craftsmanship.  His life suffered many such challenges and he gained wisdom and experience in his trials and triumphs.  He had faith in God and hope for a better life – may he find peace and comfort in the arms of our Lord where pain and sorrow have no dominion.  He remains fondly in our memory and forever in our heart.

He is survived by his spouse, Kimberly Selensky of Bellevue; his children, Triston Slywka of Lethbridge and Delainy Slywka of the Crowsnest Pass; his mother, Elsie (Marcel Belanger) Slywka; his mother-in-law, Halina Stedmann; his sisters, Lee (Kevin Baraluk) James and Lori Reid; his brother-in-law, Kirk (Angie) Selensky; his former brother-in-law, Dirk Reid; his nieces, Shannon and Ali; his nephews, Jeff, Cole, Brandyn, Nicolas and Garrett; his cousins, Jason and Vanessa; his extended family and numerous friends.  He was predeceased by his father, Paul Slywka and his brother, Lyndon Slywka.

A private family funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore with Fr. Ben Marino as Celebrant.

Donations in memory may be directed towards the charity of your choice.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
