Kenneth Parnell Stenson

1935 – 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Parnell Stenson of Hillcrest Mines, Alberta, who succumbed to illness at the CNP Health Care Centre on September 5, 2016 at the age of 80 years.

Ken was born in Frontier, Saskatchewan on October 17, 1935 to proud parents, Clayton and Vivian Stenson.  He was raised with respect for himself, his family and community.   As a young man, he met the love of his life, Mary Mazutinec.  The happy couple was joined in holy matrimony on August 16, 1965 and later was further blessed with a lovely daughter.

Ken was a hardworking man who traveled the highways hauling freight in a well-maintained truck and trailer.  His vehicles were always clean and ready for the next journey.  He had a soft spot for animals and little children, made time to lend a helping hand and treated every person with interest and consideration.  He also enjoyed planting flowers, landscaping the trailer court, traveling, driving just about anywhere, socializing, but most of all, he cherished the time shared with his family - especially his grandchildren. He was a kind, meticulous, frugal, caring gentleman who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life include his wife, Mary Stenson of Hillcrest, AB; his daughter, Diane (Dale) Bailey of Coleman; his grandchildren, Caleb Bailey of Blairmore, Melisa Bailey of Calgary; his cherished great grandson, Ryker; his sister, Jean (Charlie) York of Victoria, BC; as well as his extended family and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime, especially his buddy Ralph Tiegen.

He was predeceased by his parents, Clayton and Vivian Stenson; his brother, Don Stenson; and his sister, Marlene Dyke.

A private family gathering and visitation were held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken Stenson may be made to charity of your choice.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
