Jean Gorup, formerly Jean Poxton of Coleman, Alberta, who, on September 6, 2017 at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre, peacefully passed away while surrounded by the love of devoted family. She was blessed with 94 years of a rewarding and fulfilling life.
Jean was born on November 14, 1922 in Brandt, AB to proud parents, Peter and Katherine Wiersma. From a young age, she was hard working and compassionate. She considered her children to be her life's greatest accomplishment and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Jean truly lived life to the fullest and shall be forever fondly remembered and dearly missed.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life include her children, Albert (Marion) Poxton, Gloria Brown, Irene Strandquist, Walter Poxton and Jean (Tim O’Donnell) Waldner; her grandchildren, Donna-Lee May, Donald Petrollini, Rita Petrollini, James Petrollini, Deanna Poxton, Karen Poxton, Trevor Brown, Wayne Strandquist, Steven Strandquist, Charles Strandquist, Teresa MacLeod, Micheal Poxton, Tyrel Waldner and Nolan Waldner; her 20 great-grandchildren; her 7 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Jim (Pauline) Wiersma; her sister, Betty Barlow; her sister-in-law, June Wiersma; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; as well as the countless friends she made throughout her lifetime.
She was predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Peter Wiersma; her spouse, Walter Poxton; her son, Roy Poxton; her daughter, Eleanor Petrollini, her brothers, Richard Wiersma and Simon Wiersma; her sisters, Beulah Anderson and Greta Davies; and her sons-in-law, Arvid Strandquist and Moe Brown.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fantin's Funeral Chapel (13461-20 Ave) in Blairmore, AB on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 am.
