HEIDI  DUNLOP

(1954-2016)

With heartache and tears, we announce the passing of Heidi Dunlop, recently of Bellevue, Alberta. Heidi succumbed to illness after too long with her valiant battle with cancer on July 5, 2016 while receiving care at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre.

Born Heidi Mariea Umstatter, she graced this world on February 13, 1954 in Frankenthal, Germany to proud parents, Erich and Wilhelmine Umstatter.  She, and her family, immigrated to Canada on July 17, 1957 and on June 26, 2012, Heidi proudly became a Canadian citizen.  Though she endured much, her resilience and courage provided Heidi with a happiness and grace.  She instantly caught the affections of a dashing young man, Roderick Dunlop, and on March 2, 1973, they pledged their love in marriage.  They raised their family with unconditional love and care in the Elk Valley.  Heidi adored her family and enjoyed game-time, walking together outdoors, gardening, crafting and family functions and gatherings.  She taught us how to persevere against challenges with dignity and we shall always admire and respect her memory:

We all have a choice how to live our lives; choose kindness over malice, forgiveness over punishment and love over hate.

Heidi leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Rod Dunlop of Bellevue, AB; her devoted daughters, Kara (Ken) Dunlop of Blairmore, AB, Krista (Jeff) Semchyshyn of Edmonton, AB and Jamie (Steven) Dunlop of Edmonton, AB; her cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Shannon and Kaelynn; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and her many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Erich and Wilhelmine Umstatter and her brothers, Ingo and Karl.

A private family graveside service was held on July 10, 2016 at the Passburg Union Cemetery with Pastor Kay Bottalson officiating.  The Memorial Service celebrating Heidi’s life will be held at Fantin's Funeral Chapel in Blairmore with further details to be announced at a later date.

Donations in memory may be directed towards the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
