It is with great sorrow that the loving family of the late Glenn Francis Rinas of Hillcrest Mines, Alberta announce his death. Glenn died peacefully in the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre with his devoted wife, Penny by his side on July 3, 2015 at the age of 63 years.
Born on July 1, 1952 in Edmonton, Alberta to parents Helmut and Ruth Rinas, Glenn was an amazing person who touched many lives and was blessed with many talents. He was a skilled cabinetmaker and craftsman who built houses and worked on movie sets.
Glenn’s greatest passion in life was time spent outdoors: fishing with his canine companion, Shorty, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed playing pool with his buddies. A gentle hearted man who put the needs of others before his own, he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Penny; his daughter, Sarah (Eric) Gutzwiler; his grandson, Nathaniel Burrelle; his mother, Ruth Rinas; his sister, Margaret (Freeman) Maxwell; his brother, Norman (Shirley) Rinas; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Helmut; his infant son, Todd; and his sister, Melita.
Special thanks are extended to the nursing staff of the Crowsnest Hospital, especially Vicki Kubik, for their attentiveness and support through Glenn’s illness and end of life care.
All are welcome to a Gathering of Friends & Family on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Glenn’s residence at 1138-231 Street, Hillcrest. Donations in memory may be directed towards the Alberta Cancer Society (200, 325 Manning Rd. NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5).
