DOREEN COLLINGS

(Née: Jenkins)

(September 15, 1932 – August 16, 2017)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Collings on August 16, 2017 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB.  She was 84 years of age.

Donna Doreen was born in Coleman, AB on September 15, 1932 to proud and loving parents, George and Phyllis Jenkins.  She grew into a beautiful, caring young woman who captured the heart of a handsome gentleman, Ronald Collings.  On October 3, 1953, the happy couple wed, and they went on to be blessed with sixty-three years of love and devotion.

When she wasn’t busy taking care of her family, Doreen enjoyed curling, golfing and camping, as well as spending time on her iPad.  She was also an active and dedicated member of the Crowsnest Pass Royal Purple 159 and Order of the Eastern Star.  The most important aspect of Doreen’s life was always her family and friends.  She quietly and unselfishly gave herself to them - helping to raise her grandchildren and loving all of them unconditionally.  She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those whose hearts she touched.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life is her husband, Ron Collings of Blairmore, AB; her sons, Dean (Pauline) Collings of Edmonton, AB, Garth Collings of Blairmore, AB, Gary (Michel) Collings of Coleman, AB and Grant (Sue) Collings of Blairmore; her daughter, Susan (Norm) Hodgson of Blind Bay, BC; her grandchildren, Tamara (Robert), Katherine (Mandi), Justin, Landen (Carline) and Olivia; her great grandchildren, Ashton, Londyn and Theodore; her brother, George (Madeline) Jenkins; her niece and nephews, Catherine (Bill), Brett (Catherine), Mark (Carla), Jake (Cyd), Michael and Bobby; her dear friend, Margaret Collings-Puskas of Sylvan Lake, AB; her beloved canine companion, Yogi; as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Phyllis Jenkins; her sister-in-law, Hazel Davey; and her brother-in-law, Weston Collings.

Doreen’s family wishes to send special thanks to the staff at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Crowsnest Pass Home Care, our local EMS, as well as the Lethbridge Heart Function Clinic for the compassionate care they provided.  A Private Graveside Service will be held, followed by a Memorial Service at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass S.P.C.A. (P. O. Box 725, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0), the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca), or S.T.A.R.S. (1441 – Aviation Park NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca .
