DIXIE LEE JOHNSON

(July 13, 1965 – September 14, 2017)

It is with great sadness that the daughters of “Mama Bear”, Dixie Johnson announce her sudden passing on September 14, 2017.  They were so blessed to have been raised and unconditionally loved by her.

Dixie was born in New Westminster, BC on July 13, 1965 to proud parents, Clifford Johnson and Carol Beland, and she grew into a beautiful woman, both inside and out.  Later in life, Dixie was blessed with three lovely daughters of her own, Kristina, Kimi and Rayleen, who she adored above all else.

Dixie loved the outdoors and never missed an opportunity to go camping, fishing, or to explore new roads.  She also loved music and to laugh.  As a student of the “University of Life”, Dixie learned to face every day with strength and bravery, even through adversity – she was fearless.  Her positive outlook and caring soul will be forever missed.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her devoted daughters, Kristina Hatcher of Nanaimo, Kimi (Allen Bell) Hatcher of Blairmore and Rayleen ( Rick Malenchak) Bonner of Camrose; her grandchildren, Narissa, Dominque, Michael, Conel and Winter; her father, Clifford Johnson and step mother, Myrna Johnson of Abbotsford, BC ; her brothers, Daryll Johnson and Troy Johnson; her half brother, Allan Dearaway ; her stepbrother, Larry Johnson; her stepsister, Karen Wood; her cousins, Joanne Johnson and Doug Johnson; her aunt, Arleen Johnson; her best friends, Cathy Olson of Calgary, AB and Tim Richardson of Coleman, AB; as well as many other friends.

She was predeceased by her mother, Carol Beland of Hope, BC; her daughter, Tolonya Johnson; her grandson, James Hatcher; her great grandmother, Eudora Johnson; and her aunt, Christine Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Bellevue Legion (2401 – 213 St., Bellevue, AB).  In honor of Dixie’s love of a home cooked meal, please bring a potluck dish to share and enjoy following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the charity of your choice.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
