Welcome to the memorial page for

Cynthia "Cindy" Patricia (Liska) Luini

January 4, 1960 ~ March 18, 2017 (age 57) 57 Years Old

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cynthia “Cindy” Luini (Née: Liska) on March 18, 2017 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre in Blairmore, AB.  She graced this world with 57 years of life.

Cynthia Patricia’s story began on January 4 as the New Year’s baby of 1960 and as the eldest child of proud parents, Steve and Pat Liska.  “Cindy”, as she was affectionately known, grew up in Coleman with her brother, Craig learning the value of family.  On July 6, 1991, Cindy became the wife of Brian Luini.  The devoted couple shared twenty-five wonderful years of marriage; a milestone that they celebrated in 2016 with family and friends.

Cindy worked in the oil and gas industry as a surveyor for over twenty-five years.  She began her career in the field long before it was popular for women to do so.  Over the years, Cindy worked on job sites all over Western Canada, and she often spoke fondly of the different obstacles she and Brian encountered and overcame.

In quieter moments, Cindy was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing current events over a cup of tea.  She also excelled at cooking, sewing, crafting and gardening.  Her creative talents were evident everywhere in the little log home she shared with Brian and in her beautiful garden.  Cindy was an outdoor enthusiast, and she and Brian spent countless happy days fishing and tending to their trap line.  Some of her favorite memories were made on picnics and fishing expeditions with family, and on the many trips she and Brian took abroad.

Family and close friends were what Cindy valued most in life.  She always made a point of spending time with those closest to her and she cherished every moment.  Although Cindy and Brian didn’t have children of their own, she embraced all of her nieces and nephews as her own.  Cindy will be deeply missed and forever loved for the quiet, caring way she treated everyone.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life, is her loving husband, Brian Luini of Hillcrest, AB; her parents, Steve and Pat Liska of Coleman, AB; her brother, Craig (Kim) Liska of Coleman, AB; her grandmother, Ivy Carlson of New Westminster, BC; her brothers-in-law, Charles (Leona) Luini, Harold Luini and David (Eva) Welsh; her sister-in-law, Peggy (Pat) Pow; her nephews, Robin Luini, Garry (Whitney) Luini and Scott (Ashley) Pow; her nieces, Lindsey (Jason) Dorusak, Melissa Luini, Carly Bennett and Darby Bennett; her great nephews, Preston Dorusak, Brandon Luini and Griffin Luini; her great niece, Gia Luini; her uncles, Dave Liska and family, Rolf (Lynn) Stead and family and Leroy Carlson; her aunts, Betty Williams and family and Judy (Dennis) Claydon and family; as well as her dear friends, Cindy Thody and Joanne Trotz.

Cindy was predeceased by her grandparents, Steve and Elizabeth Liska; her grandfather, Arthur Carlson; her aunt, Marilyn Liska; her mother and father-in-law, Genevieve and David Welsh; and her nephew, Joe Luini.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the charity of your choice.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
