With immense sorrow, we announce the passing of our dearly departed mother, Barbara Leonne Kay, who was called to be with Lord on November 29, 2016 at the glorious age of 85 years. She was a blessing to us all.
Born on June 27, 1931 in Bellevue, Alberta to parents, Clarence and Ivy Woodward, Barbara was instilled with a great appreciation for family. As a young lady, she became a caregiver for her mother and homemaker for her younger brothers. Her grace and compassion captured the heart of a fine young man, Arnold Kay, and in August of 1953, they were married in holy matrimony. Barb was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed knitting, crochet, baking, gardening and selling Avon to the ladies of our community. She and Arnold were avid curlers and spent many years tending the concession stand at the Bellevue Arena. A humble and faithful woman, she was an inspiration to her family and a wonderful friend to so many. May she find comfort in heaven and walk hand in hand with her beloved husband in the peace and grace of God.
She is survived by her loving children, Kim (Carolyn), Ernie (Ruby) and Candice (Bill); her cherished grandchildren, Rieley (Kim), Darin, Eric (Erica), Clayton (Mariel), Christine, Rochelle (Karl), Crystal (Ryan) and Keltey (Dave); her precious great grandchildren, William, Brynn, Cayden, Lyam, Sadie, Nash, Alexander, Skyler, Olivia, Skyler, Kacey, Chelsea, Lacie, Jayden and Danica; her beloved brothers, Tom (Margaret-Ann) Woodward and Joe (Judy) Woodward; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arnold Kay; parents, Clarence & Ivy Woodward; and siblings, Jack Woodward and Patricia Barrett.
The funeral service honouring Barbara’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Fantin's Funeral Chapel in Blairmore with Rev. Dr. A. Christopher Smith officiating. Interment to follow in the family section of the Passburg Union Cemetery. Pallbearers consisted of her grandchildren.
