It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anunziata Mary Teresa Zboya at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre on July 25, 2015 at the glorious age of 100 years.
Anunziata, affectionately known as “Nanci” and “Ziata” by her family and friends, was born on February 11, 1915 to proud parents Maria and Batista Aschacher in Maple Leaf (Bellevue), Alberta. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Frank Zboya, and the couple was blessed with two beautiful children. After being widowed in 1948, Nanci joined the workforce and, over the years, was employed at Catonio’s Grocery Store and Sears before becoming a long-time Canada Post employee at the Blairmore post office. Upon retiring, she enjoyed countless happy hours working in her garden and going for weekly luncheons with her two neighbors in her bright yellow 1966 Mustang.
Nanci had an unwavering faith in God. Her strong faith and prayer helped her through all the ups and downs she faced throughout her life. Her greatest joy came from her family and she treasured every moment spent with them. She will be forever remembered and forever loved.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her son, Francis (Marlene); her daughter, Donna; her grandchildren, Nancy-Jean & Eric (Robyn); her great grandchildren, Justin, Colby, Sydnee & Emme; and her great-great grandchild, Rueben.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis; her parents, Maria & Batista; her sisters, Regina Lord, Mary Misson & Enis Sartoris; her brother, Bill Aschascher; and her grandson, Douglas Zboya.
The Prayer Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Blairmore, AB on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 7:30pm with Deacon Renso Castellarin presiding.
The Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Blairmore, AB on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00am with Fr. Ben Marino and the Very Rev. Fr. Jack Pereira V.G. as Celebrants. Interment to follow at the Blairmore Catholic Cemetery.
