Welcome to the memorial page for

Annie (Soukup) Cerney

March 13, 1915 ~ July 16, 2015 (age 100) 100 Years Old

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Annie Cerney, at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre on July 16, 2015 at the glorious age of 100 years.
Annie was born on March 13, 1915 to proud parents Josephine and Mike Soukup in Frank, AB.  As a child, she was a tomboy who enjoyed playing baseball and hockey and sawing wood with her father.  As she grew up, Annie blossomed into a lovely young woman who captured the heart of a handsome gentleman, Milton Cerney.  The happy couple married and was blessed with a beautiful son.
Annie had many hobbies and interests such as gardening, playing cards and bingo, shopping in Kalispell, crocheting, crafting and woodworking.  She also spent many contented hours cooking and baking for her family and friends, and found the time in her busy schedule to be an active member of the Lions’ Club and of the All Women’s Fire Department in Frank.  Annie loved listening to Czech music, especially the accordion, and it was well known that she had an affinity for whistling.
Although Annie’s life was touched by tragedy when she lost her son at the tender age of 21 in a motor vehicle accident, she always kept a positive outlook on life.  She was always laughing and loved to tease.  Her mischievous side often made an appearance when she was bored!  Annie never complained about anyone, but was always ready with a compliment.  She was a devoted wife and mother and a true friend.  Her radiant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and the many friends she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Milton Cerney; her cherished son, Chuck Cerney; her brother, Laddie Soukup; and her sister, Mary Poch.
With respect for Annie’s final wishes, no funeral service will be held.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.  Donations in memory of Annie will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre (P. O. Box 510, Bag 1, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).
